Professorships & Fellowships
Our students succeed because of outstanding teachers and mentors. Your donations for
our professorships help the college recruit and retain top faculty by providing recognition
and support for excellence in teaching, research, service, and patient care.
Our college currently provides two advanced practice fellowships: one in advanced
cornea and contact lens care and one in community health practice. These fellowships
provide post-graduate training in specific areas of clinical practice.

Educational Excellence Endowment
Preparation for modern health care practice requires constant innovation in educational
design, delivery, and assessment. Technology creates new possibilities for student
learning experiences through virtual anatomy, patient simulations, and new ways to
assess learning outcomes. Your support for our vision of educational excellence will
enhance our ability to offer forward-thinking educational programs to the next generation
of leaders in eye care.

Community Health Initiative
The vision for our Houston community health center initiative is to create a place
where patients can receive the best possible care while also working to better understand
the factors that influence healthcare outcomes. This community health center initiative,
will allow us to develop optimal health delivery models and assess the efficacy of
community health interventions designed to improve health outcomes: through better
health literacy, improved communication strategies, easier care access, and by addressing
other social determinants of health.
The UH Health Eye Care Center provides care to more than 60,000 Texans annually in
the Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth metropolitan areas. As primary eyecare providers
we are often the first and only point of entry to the health system for individuals
who require care for conditions like diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, cataracts,
and more. We serve these communities along with other health care providers to improve
and promote individual wellness and public health. Your donations to our community
health initiative will directly impact the lives of patients we care for and the communities
we serve.
Mobile Eye Institute Campaign
We are relaunching our Mobile Eye Service to provide care for Texans in the greater
Houston metropolitan area. Give now to help fund mobile and remote health care services
for our surrounding communities. Your donations will help provide equipment, transport,
and telehealth infrastructure needed to provide first class care in any setting.
